Last night one of the San Francisco Giants outfield options vanished into thin air. Outfielder Jay Bruce decided to pass on the waiting games, and sign a 3-year deal ($39 million) with the New York Mets.

It’s been mentioned multiple times that the Giants and Bruce were a good match, but the Giants seemed to have Bruce on the back-burner. Maybe they’re really trying to see if they can land J.D. Martinez, or maybe they’re working on a trade for Andrew McCutchen.

Bruce isn’t known for his defense and maybe that’s why the Giants were so hesitant on pulling the trigger to land the power bat.

Good Evening, I think it was not smart to allow Bruce to get away. I think they should forget about McCutcheon. A trade now after giving up three prospects for Longo would again deplete our farm system. I would love for us to get J.D. He has allot of pop. No more trading our prospects away.

I think the Giants should focus on J.D. Martinez and look at about a 4 yr deal. If they fail at obtaining JD, then let’s give Parker and Williams a shot by platooning them in LF.
