Today was the day that the San Francisco Giants got to officially introduce one of their brand new shiny toys. Yes, I’m talking about Evan Longoria finally getting to put on a Giants uniform and hat. One of the big questions since the trade, is what number will Longoria be wearing? Wait no more, he’s going to be wearing number 10!
“He’s really a perfect fit in our minds, not just what he’s done on the field, but what he represents off the field,” said Larry Baer.
“We couldn’t be more excited to add Evan to our core. The caliber of 3rd base that he plays, the presence he has in the lineup,” said Bobby Evans.
When Evan was asked about his reaction to the Giants trading for Andrew McCutchen.
“I knew that the commitment was there from top to bottom. That just kind of reinforced it,” said Longoria.
After the big trade, Longoria said he reached out to Buster Posey and Madison Bumgarner first. He wanted to let them know he’s excited. He’s here to win and follow their example. He’s touched base with a few others since then as well.
No disrespect to the Trop or fans in Tampa, but Longoria is excited to play on grass and in front of the packed house at AT&T Park!
