Giants Tickets Down 15% For Series Vs White Sox

The San Francisco Giants have lost four straight and are now five games out in the NL West. They’re even behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the final wild card spot in the National League. Now there is an interleague game on the Giants schedule, with a two-game set against the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox have managed to be even worse than the Giants recently, as they fall farther out of the playoff race. Their -55 run differential is one of the worst figures in the league. San Francisco Giants tickets are averaging $53.56 for the series, which is 15 percent below their season average at AT&T Park.

8/12 CWS Chris Sale vs. SF Ryan Vogelsong | Avg. Price: $59.12 | Get-in Price: $21

The first start of the series goes to Ryan Vogelsong, and while he isn’t one of the most heralded players on the roster, he has been one of the Giants best. In 23 starts, he is second on the team with a 1.5 WAR, and has a solid 3.64 ERA and 3.44 FIP to match. He’s succeeding with better than average strikeout and walk rates, while limiting home runs. But he’ll have his work cut out for him with Chris Sale taking the mound for the White Sox. Sale has been one of the best pitchers in baseball the last several years, and currently has a 2.14 ERA, 4.2 WAR to go along with a 6.27 K/BB ratio. The game is the most expensive of the series with a $59.12 average, and $21 get-in price.

8/13 CWS Jose Quintana vs. SF Jake Peavy | Avg. Price: $48 | Get-in Price: $17

Jake Peavy gets the next start for the Giants, and he hasn’t been much better for them than he was for the Boston Red Sox to start the year. But the numbers show he has gotten a bit unlucky, with a 2.97 FIP making that 4.82 ERA seem off. To his credit he doesn’t walk many batters and hasn’t given up a home run in his three starts with the Giants, but he is only keeping 57.7 percent of base runners from scoring against him. That number might be fluky, but as of now looks pretty bad. The average price of Giants vs White Sox tickets for the game is $48 and the get-in price is $17.
