Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com reports that it’s no surprise to outfielder Alex Rios to hear that teams are seeking his services in the trade market. Levine points out that industry sources say the Rangers, Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants have been watching Rios from city to city.

This brings back memories of December 2007, that’s when the Blue Jays wanted young phenom Tim Lincecum straight up for Rios. Something tells me the White Sox wouldn’t be willing to do the same deal. It’s crazy to think that deal was very close to happening during the 2007 Winter Meetings.

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle says (via Twitter) he’s floated Jeff Francouer‘s name around to the Giants and he got a lot of scrunched faces and worries about his outfield play.

Angel Villalona has been promoted to AA Richmond. Villalona hit .229 with 14 homers and 42 RBI in 73 games with the San Jose Giants.

Reliever Santiago Casilla allowed two singles, one run and one strikeout in his rehab outing. He threw a total of 15 pitches in his inning of work.

Pitcher Ryan Vogelsong was throwing today, and Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury news says (via Twitter) Vogelsong didn’t feel any pain or irritation in his hand.

“This is a good step for me,” said Vogelsong.

  1. Angel Villalona was one of the stars of the HR Derby at a Minor league All-Star game a couple weeks back at San Jose Municipal stadium. I was there chasing the HR’s he was hitting . He finished a close 2nd in the HR Derby.
