SF Giants Rumors: Angel Pagan, Melky Cabrera, Angel Villalona Reports, Giants Tickets

TorresRamirezPaganPosition players are reporting to camp today, and Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com tells us (via Twitter) Angel Pagan, Andres Torres and Ramon Ramirez all have their lockers in a row.

Torres and Ramirez were traded to the Mets last offseason for Pagan. One year later the Giants have brought back Torres on a one-year deal, and Ramirez on a minor league deal.

Pagan has also signed a four-year deal with the Giants for $40 million. Pagan said his bank account changed but not his focus or passion. He calls himself the Crazy Horse and Torres his Crazy Brother (via Andrew Baggarly Tweet).

Outfielder Melky Cabrera recently said the Giants have contacted him about a World Series ring. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle (via Twitter Links) confirms that Cabrera will receive a ring, and says the team doesn’t know why Cabrera said the Giants have been in contact with him. Spokeswoman Staci Slaughter said the Giants do have Cabrera’s ring size.

Villalona Reports To Camp

Infielder Angel Villalona has reported to camp and manager Bruce Bochy doesn’t expect Villalona to be a distraction says Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News (via Twitter).

In September, 2009, Villalona was a suspect in a murder in the Dominican Republic. The charges were later dropped after a settlement of approximately $139,000 with the victims’ family. It’s speculated that the murder was pinned on Villalona because he had a big bank account.

Villalona had his visa to the United States revoked. Now that the charges are dropped and he wasn’t convicted. Villalona has since been approved a visa to come play ball in the United States. The Giants still have a lot of hope for the 22-year-old. In 2006 he was given the largest signing bonus ($2.1 million) for a Giants player at the time.

Love you column. However wish you could get rid of the black as it is hard to read and impossilbe to print if we wanted to. Somehow keeping the orange with a white might look and read bettr…Just my suggestion..others may disagree. What say all of you, what are your thoughts.
