Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, says free agent Aubrey Huff intends to play in 2013. That’s if an opportunity opens up. San Francisco Giants fans have seen Huff help bring them their first championship in 2010 (.290 avg, 26 homers) to basically falling off the face of the baseball earth in 2012 (.192 avg, 1 homer).
However, Huff still managed to get two World Series rings in his 3-year tenure in San Francisco. I’m not going to bash the guy, but everyone knew Huff wouldn’t be coming back after the 2012 season.
Huff will need to be patient and continue his offseason workouts. It’s not likely that any team will be jumping to sign him with other free agents like Lance Berkman still available. His best bet, is to have his agent call every American League team that’s looking for a Designated Hitter or first baseman. I’m sure Huff’s outfield days are done.
