It’s that time of the playoffs again… You know, where the San Francisco Giants have their backs to the wall. Barry Zito needs to be the Cardinals stopper, and help this team live to see another day.
Win or lose and the Giants are still coming home. The only difference is, if they’re coming home to play again or coming home to start thinking about next year.
It’s been announced that catcher Buster Posey has won the National LeagueComeback Player of the Year award (voted by MLB.com reporters). Posey received 27 of the 30 first place votes.
Posey was injured in a plate collision on May 25, 2011 with Scott Cousins. It was uncertain as to what kind of a player Posey would be this year after his horrific injury. As it turns out, Posey is the winner of the NL Batting Title with a .336 average, and now officially the NL Comeback Player of the Year. The only thing next for Posey on the individual front is the NL MVP award (announced Nov. 15)!
Posey’s 2012 Stats
.336 AVG, 24 Homers, 103 RBI, 78 Runs
