It was a nice hot day in San Francisco as the San Francisco Giants put an old fashion whooping on the Rockies (10-0) to sweep the series. Barry Zito tossed 7 innings of shutout ball, and hasn’t allowed a single run on the season. Is it too early to start the Cy Young Award campaign? Zito didn’t just do it with his arm. He also racked up a couple hits and an RBI. Someone needs to get this guy to put on a hitting clinic during the offseason (just kidding)!

Zito is the first Giants pitcher since Al Worthington (1953) to begin a season with 2 straight starts of at least 7IP and no runs allowed. Dating back to last season the Giants have won 13 straight Zito starts. In this span, Zito is 9-0 with a 3.20 ERA (via MLB Stat Twitter links).

The Giants start a road trip today in Chicago where the weather is bone chilling cold! All four games in Chicago are day games, so I hope you’re ready for afternoon baseball.

Nick Noonan is going to make his first Major League start today at second for the Giants.

Today’s Lineup

CF Angel Pagan

SS Brandon Crawford

3B Pablo Sandoval

C Buster Posey

RF Hunter Pence

1B Brandon Belt

LF Gregor Blanco
