SF Giants Rumors – Bradley, Bay, Holliday, Tejada

Posted on November 30th, 2009 by admin in SF Giants Rumors

Jon Heyman of SI.com has some daily scoop. He still has the Giants as a possibility for Milton Bradley.

King of Cali thoughts: I personally don’t think this will happen. Bradley does have a good bat, but he comes with a lot of baggage and is also injury prone.

Heyman also says he was told by one MLB GM that even though the Giants have said they are not going to pursue Jason Bay or Matt Holliday. He’s not going to count them out, despite what they say.

King of Cali thoughts: Despite this rumor that the Giants may still be in it for one of these top two free agents. I don’t see them able to pony up enough $$$ to land either one.

One competing agent suggests he may be able to get a three-year deal for Miguel Tejada, who is thought to be drawing interest from the Cardinals, Astros, Phillies, Rangers and Giants.

King of Cali thoughts: Tejada is a guy that I think would be a good signing for the Giants. Tejada can still hit and we have so many movable parts in the infield. That we can make this signing work and add a nice bat to our struggling offense.

  1. I also think a possible signing of Miguel Tejada would be a great addition since he can still hit at a high level and since offense is what we need he would look good in a giants uniform.

  2. I think the Giants will be the same as they were in ’09. They’ll probably play above .500 baseball, but won’t make the playoffs. They are just unwilling to fork out the money for a bat that they so desperatly need (Bay or Holliday).

  3. I’m hoping Sabean doesn’t let “10″ have the same results as “09″. He knows he got the pass last year on not upgrading the offense. He got to see what Lewis and others can do. Now this year he knows the upgrade is needed and Giants fans will not give him another pass. I’m sure some moves will happen. We might not get the big fish out there but some upgrades will happen.

  4. I think your choices are correct. I mean like Bay has pretty good fielding, but probably I would go for Matt Holliday. For Right field, I would go for Nelson Cruz, Jermaine Dye, Alex Rios. First Base, Nick Johnson,Adrian Gonzalez. Another right field choice is Milton Bradley, or re-sign Randy Winn.

  5. Parth,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. I would love Adrian Gonzalez at First Base too, but we know that’s not going to happen. Sabean would have to part with Bumgarner, or Posey and other prospects to land Gonzalez. The Giants are parting with Randy Winn to give more playing time to Nate and Bowker. They also plan on landing a bat for a corner spot in the outfield.
