Free agent reliever and fan favorite Brian Wilson has completed his long-toss program and will be throwing off a mound soon, reports Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Schulman points out that the San Francisco Giants are still willing to discuss a contract with Wilson, but it would be in Wilson’s best interest to hold off signing with the Giants or any team at this time. If he’s feeling good throwing and close to pitching ready at the start of Spring Training. He can possibly get more guaranteed money by waiting to sign till then.
In seven season with the Giants, Wilson has a record of 20-20 with a 3.21 ERA and 171 saves. His 171 saves has him 3rd on the Giants All-Time Saves leader board, behind Rod Beck (199), and Robb Nen (206).
Wilson’s now a free agent for the first time in his career, and it’s anyone’s guess where he will end up in 2013. Don’t forget to go to the SF Giants Rumors Facebook page to share your thoughts on Wilson’s future!
