SF Giants Rumors: Bumgarner Complete Game, Bats Rolling And Injury Update
After the Monday night beat down, the San Francisco Giants showed some life last night. It was a very nice bounce back win for the G-men. It’s their first win against the Nationals this year (1-4). They have now won 8 out of their last 12 games.
Pitcher Madison Bumgarner was on point, and tossed his 2nd career complete game. Bumgarner leads the NL in ERA at home (1.87 ERA).
The bats were rolling last night for a few Giants players. Hunter Pence, Brandon Belt and Marco Scutaro each had 3 hits in the game.
Belt has been on fire as of late, and seems to be locked in at the plate. He has 9 hits in his last 14 AB’s. I do believe Belt will continue to put better AB’s together with Melky Cabrera, Buster Posey, Pablo Sandoval and Pence taking a lot of the pressure off of Belt to produce at the plate.
Injury Update
Relief pitcher Brad Penny has been placed on the DL with shoulder soreness. In a counter move, the Giants have called up pitcher Dan Otero from AAA-Fresno.

These G’s showed gumption.
I just watched the Giants / Nationals rubber game today here on the East Coast and could not believe the sloppy play of the G-men. It almost seems as though the G-men do not want to play with Timmy on the mound. Also, it may be time to sit Timmy down as he was all over the place with his control. Buster set up inside and Timmy throws outside, etc. Maybe go with a fifth starter by committee (three innings each) of the middle relievers or bring someone up from the minors.
Finally, let’s get a set lineup and stick with it. Now that Melky is out for the season, let’s go with 1) Blanco CF, 2) Scutaro 2B, 3, Posey C, 4) Pence RF, 5) Sandoval 3B, 6) Pagan LF, 7) Belt 1B, 8) Crawford SS, 9) P. Let these guys know they are going to be penciled in each day, unless injuries take them out of the lineup. Let them build a chemistry. Just some thoughts. East Coast follower.
