SF Giants Rumors – Byung-Hyun Kim To Giants
Posted on February 1st, 2010 by admin in SF Giants Rumors
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com has said (via twitter) that pitcher Byung-Hyun Kim is attempting a comeback. He has agreed to a minor league deal with the San Francisco Giants. King of Cali thoughts: This signing is nothing to write home about. In 2008 Kim signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and had a disappointing spring training. He was released before the season even started. At least it’s a minor league contract, so it’s a low-risk high reward signing. If he does do good in Spring Training. The Giants may use him as a long relief guy in the bullpen. His career stats are 54 wins and 60 losses with a 4.42 ERA, 806 K’s and 86 saves. Please let me know your thoughts on this signing.

Like i said before, i knew the giants were still going to sign pitchers for relief. This was unexpected since i was looking at different candidates but just like kinf of cali said: “so it’s a low-risk high reward signing. If he does do good in Spring Training. The Giants may use him as a long relief guy in the bullpen”. I’m looking forward to see what this guy is bringing to this organization in a pitching ballpark.
Even in his heyday, he wasn’t very good. Seemed to get rattled pretty easily and IIRC didn’t take the transition from starter to reliever very well.
just a minor league deal nothing to be worried about Rod
if he stinks we cut him but maybe we strike gold and he pitches average again
This isn’t a bad signing for us if he produces we keep him if not hes cut before season starts. what I love about kim is this he knows how to pitch in the nl west I think thats one of the reason we got him pitched for the rockies and az now with the giants.. one more thing use to be a closer set up man long relief short and a starter what more can you ask a guy to do when we need a good solid reliever who again is pitching in a pitchers ball park rootin for ya kim!!
