SF Giants Rumors: Cabrera Contract On Hold, Overbay, Mijares And Pence

Posted on August 8th, 2012 by admin in SF Giants Rumors

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says the San Francisco Giants and outfielder Melky Cabrera have agreed to pick up the contract talks after the season. Heyman says it’s believed that the G-men offered Cabrera a 3-year deal worth $27 million a few weeks ago.

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle says (via twitter) the Giants have looked into signing first baseman Lyle Overbay, but he’s not eager to to go to Fresno to get some work in first. Overbay would sure be a nice option off the bench and add some depth to the bench.

We knew the Giants needed some bullpen help, and they were able to snag reliever Jose Mijares off waivers from the Royals on Monday.

Hunter Pence has had 30 AB’s in a Giants uniform and only has 4 hits, which is a .133 average. However, he still has 5 RBI’s in his first 7 games as a Giant. He was brought in here to add some pop to the lineup and drive some runs in!
