SF Giants Rumors: Cabrera Is Open To Staying In SF, Bourn Could Be On Giants Wish List
It’s All Star week and one of the San Francisco Giants All Stars will be a free agent at the end of the season. Melky Cabrera is having a great year in a Giants uniform and will be a hot commodity if he hits the free agent market.
John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle says (via Twitter) Cabrera would be open to a long-term deal with the Giants. Cabrera has instructed his agents to let management know his intention to stick around.
“Of course I would. I’m a free agent next (winter), but the fans and Giants organization have treated me very well, so I would welcome staying with the Giants,” said Cabrera.
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says the Giants could be in play for outfielder Michael Bourn when he hits the free agent market after this season.
Heyman also says the Giants have shown interest in Bourn before, which gives rise to the speculation.
