SF Giants Rumors: Damon and Matsui Will Not Call San Francisco Home
Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle says the San Francisco Giants are short on true outfielders, but still have no interest in Johnny Damon or Hideki Matsui. Staff fears the team is too left-handed already, and wants players who can still play the field.
I would have to agree! Damon and Matsui need to find American League teams that can let them DH. If the Giants were to put guys in the outfield that aren’t going to cover much ground. They better be hitting the cover off the ball. Let’s take our chances and roll the dice with Melky Cabrera, Angel Pagan, Brandon Belt and Nate Schierholtz.
What’s your thoughts on the Giants closing the door on Damon and Matsui?

simply put: good!!
Totally agree. They are no better (at this stage of their careers) than the team that we presently have. They are definitely worse in the field, they are slower on the bases and in my opinion, their bats are no better.
I wouldnt mind if the Giants signed Matsui or Damon to a 1 year deal for the right price. It would be like 2010 Pat Burrell. They could play off the bench and serve as a pinch hitter late in the game if needed.
Let’s hope not.
The outfield is crowded as it is, and it is time for the team to give the younger players like Belt and Schierholtz a chance to prove themselves as full time players.
