SF Giants Rumors – Downs Claimed, Belt to Fresno

It’s been reported that the Houston Astros have claimed Matt Downs from the San Francisco Giants. The Giants DFA Downs to make room for Cody Ross, who they claimed on waivers from the Florida Marlins.  

Brandon Belt has been promoted to the Fresno Grizzlies. Belt started the season in San Jose and then went to Richmond. His combined stats are .363 AVG with 19 HR’s and 102 RBI’s. Let’s hope he can keep the hot bat going in Fresno.

    Brandon Belt may be called up sometime next year if he continues to hit at AAA. He is the hottest hitting prospect since Posey and Pablo and he is know the next in line for starting 1st base for the giants in the very near future.

    I just hope that Brandon doesn’t become the next good minor league player who can’t play the bigs. I am not saying he will be we have had our let downs ie Nate , Bowker, Velez, Niekro

    I agree Vince but with stats like that it is more than likely he will produce on the Majors level.
