With their first pick (25th overall) in the 2013 MLB Draft, the San Francisco Giants selected high school shortstop Christian Arroyo. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle says Arroyo is in Arizona to get his physical, which means he’s on the verge of signing.
The 25th slot in the draft should receive around $1.86 million to sign, but Schulman thinks the Giants might have had to exceed that to prevent Arroyo from accepting his full ride at the University of Florida.
Arroyo is an offensive draft pick, and hit .524 with 13 doubles, 3 triples and 11 homers in 105 AB’s his senior year of high school.
