Of all those names, Beltran is the strongest I feel about NOT signing.

$$ are certainly a consideration (as noted above), but primarily because we had success last year without any “superstar” salary (no disrespect to any player) as most of our team came up through the system (ie, Posey, Panda, Timmy, Matt) or were castoffs from other teams. That unusual synergy (fun and hunger) to achieve playoff success IMHO can’t be achieved with a team centered around any one “superstar” (salary) player.

Interesting that the names listed below Beltran just add up to a little over his salary. But we should try to sign him, Kep, and any pitcher not named zito or sanchez.
