SF Giants Rumors: Giants Future Leadoff Hitter Cracks Top 10 Outfielder Prospects List

Posted on January 26th, 2012 by admin in SF Giants Rumors

Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com has published the Top 10 Outfielder Prospect List. I’m sure you guessed that the Nationals have the number 1 outfielder prospect (Bryce Harper). The San Francisco Giants have one prospect that was able to make the list.

The number 8 prospect on the top 10 list is the Giants future leadoff hitter Gary Brown. Below is what Mayo had to say about Brown.

“Many felt Brown should have been promoted midseason in 2011, but there’s nothing wrong with not rushing things. Brown finished in the California League’s top five in several offensive categories, including stolen bases and batting average. His plus-plus speed makes him a perfect future leadoff hitter, especially as he gains a better understanding of what he needs to do atop a lineup. It also helps make Brown a plus defensive center fielders. Brown even has a little power to boot. He’ll move up to Double-A to start the year, but don’t be surprised to see him in San Francisco before the year is over.”

I had a chance to sit down with Brown and interview him. He was a really fun guy to interview, and was smiling and laughing throughout the interview. You can read the Q&A With Gary Brown here.

Do you think Brown will be the Giants leadoff hitter on Opening Day 2013?
