SF Giants Rumors: Hunter Pence Extension Talks, Lincecum’s Agent Hasn’t Heard Extension Talks

Posted on September 16th, 2013 by admin in SF Giants Rumors
Pence-Giants-TogetherFirst place, last place or anywhere between, the San Francisco Giants are always in Beat LA mode! The Giants marched into Los Angeles and took three out of four against the first place Los Angeles Dodgers.

The man of the weekend was outfielder Hunter Pence. Pence hit .470 with 5 homers, 12 RBI, 7 runs scored for the Giants against the Dodgers. This hot streak alone shows how important it is for the Giants to re-sign Pence.

Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com reports that the Giants have opened up talks with Pence about an extension, but they have yet to do so with Tim Lincecum. Both players will hit the free agent market following the season, and the Giants do have exclusive negotiating rights with Pence and Lincecum until 5 days after the World Series.

Pence is putting up the offensive numbers to show why the Giants need to re-sign him. They can’t afford to be on the market for a left and right fielder. Although Lincecum has pitched a No Hitter this year, he’s still having a subpar season. It would be nice to bring Timmy back, but it wouldn’t be as huge of a blow as losing Pence’s production in right field.

Only time will tell if one, both or none of these players return. I do know that Pence and Lincecum have huge fan-bases here in San Francisco!

  1. Yes resign Pence and then pick up a solid outfield bat and a couple of good starting pitchers and we will make another run.

  2. Sign them both!!!!!!

  3. Sign them both and try to get an additional solid bat.
