SF Giants Rumors – Interested In Ross, Or Blocking?

  Cody Ross

It’s been reported by FoxSports.com that the San Francisco Giants have claimed outfielder Cody Ross off waivers from the Florida Marlins. It’s not clear if the Giants have real interest in Ross, or if they are just trying to block the San Diego Padres or other teams. Since the claim is made that means the Giants might be on the hook for a little more than $1 million, which is the remainder of his contract for the year. I like the fact that Brian Sabean is trying to block teams. It’s showing that he’s still trying to do his job, and not just sitting back and hoping this team wins.

Cody Ross Stats

G 117

AVG .260

HR 10

RBI 55

R 57

SB 9

Ross is arbitration eligible at the end of the season.

  1. This would be a interesting move but I really don’t see how they could use him with the logjam of outfielders and the recent addition of Guillen.I think they are probably trying to block him from going to the Padres.

  2. I would really like to see if they do get him where would they go. I mean the outfield is all clogged do they maybe put nate or rowand on waivers if they claim him because somoene has to go to make room. If anyone goes I say dump nate and have Ross play Guillen spot . Its a win win for the giants because they really wont clog him up out there cuz when Guillen needs a break he can come in.. when burrell needs a break he plays which means he can play maybe 3 to 4 games a week and I think he has played some infield and could spell pablo at 3rd to give him days off
