SF Giants Rumors – Is Guillen Wanted In San Francisco?

The San Francisco Giants are looking into maybe acquiring Jose Guillen. I have heard from Giants fans that don’t want to see this happen. I say it’s a no lose situation for the Giants. He can platoon with Pat Burrell in the outfield. Then Bruce Bochy can go with the hot bat and have one of them available in a pinch hit situation where you need some pop.
Yes, we have all heard about Guillen in the clubhouse and being a cancer. He’s not going to be around this team long enough to even get to that point of being unhappy. He’s going to be happy to leave a losing Royals team to a Giants team that’s fighting to win the NL West.
Yes, Guillen is in a big slump right now( 3-for-41 in last 11 games), but that doesn’t mean he won’t get out of it. Just the thought of having a guy on your bench that can bring some late inning pop to an AB when needed. That’s a huge thing for any team to have. I’m not here saying this guy is the difference maker for the Giants. I’m just saying he can help Bochy mix and match lineups and add some pop to our roster.
Is Guillen wanted in San Francisco?
Side Notes
Dontrelle Willis had his outing last night cut short because of a torn fingernail. The Giants still see Willis as a late season addition to the bullpen.

Nice write-up, King. Whose spot would Guillen take on the roster? That would play a lot in to my thinking……
The SF Giants need athletic youth with speed / range rather than another retread player.
Especially with Bochy’s propensity to keep playing slumping vets over having patience in allowing youth to develop. If Molina had not been traded Posey would still be playing 1st. Look how long it took Bochy to put Torres in over Rowand. He would rather play Burrell over Schierholtz. I know Burrell has more offensive pop but Schierholtzto has never been given a real opportunity to show his ability. One can not judge him based on his lack of offense when Bochy only uses him as defensive substations. There are many more examples supporting Bochy’s preference for aging vets over rookies.
Plus, even if Giants get Jose Guillen, who would sit? Most Bochy would not be able to resist moving Huff to 1st which mean Ishikawa would see even less playing time. It would also move Nate even further down depth chart.
I believe the future for the Giants is pitching, defense, speed, range and manufacturing runs…not waiting for the big home run. Giants need high % hitters, base stealing threats that hit for contact to move runners along as apposed to another over mid thirty player, with possible pop potential, that is a defensive liability without speed or arm strength.
In other words. Pass on Guillen.
I say get Guillen ,we need more pop and he can knock in some RBI’s as well. The main objective is to have the most potent offense and home run rbi power out there and with a tough August schedule they are going to need all the help that they can get.In other words. Sign Guillen
Why would you want Guillen he’d destroy our team’s chemistry if we get a hitter we should get one that helps the team not damage it. The Angels despite him being a crucial part of the Angels offense in 04 they dumped him because he was such an asshole. He’s a clubhouse cancer he won’t help the Giants and much less will he help the chemistry.Theres a good reason he’s been on many teams for short amounts of time.
Keep Guillen in KC and think about long term proven youth like Corey Hart again.
Signing Guillen is unlikely because K.C. can either trade him (and K.C. will probably ask a lot for this guy) or put him on waivers (Giants probably will be blocked or their selection won’t be reached because of so many other teams ahead of them). If they release him, would K.C. want to pay the rest of the money that is owed to him? I think they’ll more likely going to trade him or put him on waivers.
The Giants have fulfilled their power needs in signing Burrell, and bringing up Posey. Everyone in the starting lineup has or can hit 20 homers in a season excepting Renteria, who has hit 10 or more 9 times, and 2B Sanchez (who is at least a past batting champion!) That’s not bad pop. This team needs to start believing in itself and it’s happening. I say leave the chemistry alone as they are a gellin’! This team needs to start believing in itself and it’s happening!
Guillen has already been put on waivers and we have a very good chance of signing him due to his 3.25 million owed to him the rest of the season .The other teams won’t block us because there isn’t that many teams willing to take on the salary. The attitude issue is more of media hype ,he would fit in and we could get him for a low level prospect.
This is like trying to go out on a date and you get stuck with her sister!
Will the frustration ever end?
