An Associated Press article about shortstop Jimmy Rollins says he has made it clear that he wants a five-year deal. Rollins also doesn’t plan to give the Phillies a hometown discount, either.
I’m sure J-Roll will lower his demands as the market plays itself out. Rollins is a great signing for any team that lands him, but he will be 33 at the start of next season, and a 5-year contract will have him locked in till he’s 38. I wouldn’t mind giving him a 3-year contract with an option for a 4th year, but I’m not going past that to land J-Roll.
“If I was older, I’d take a shorter term. I’ll be 33 by the time I get the contract, which means I still have probably about a good six years left of being able to perform at a high level and possibly even more,” says Rollins.

What’s your thoughts on Rollins demands, and do you still want to see him in Orange and Black?
