SF Giants Rumors – Park, Byrnes, Calero
Mychael Urban of CSNBayArea.com said (via twitter) that the Giants still want some bullpen help, but the 40-man roster is set. Chan Ho Park’s name has come up, but he’d have to take a minor-league deal.
Urban said in a followup tweet. The Giants door appears to have shut, or never opened on Eric Byrnes. Consider the Giants done with any real shopping.
Urban says (via twitter) that two high-ranking Giants officials tell him they’re done with big-league free agents, which means they’re out on Kiko Calero.
King of Cali thoughts: I figured the Giants were done unless someone happen to fall in their lap. I have heard mixed reactions from Giants fans about signing Park. I’m okay with leaving that roster spot open for our young pitchers in the pen.
The Giants have a lot of outfielders and they must not want to take AB’s away from Eugenio Velez, Andres Torres and Nate Schierholtz. I love the Byrnes idea, and what he can bring to the team if healthy, but we all knew it was a long shot. Are you happy with the offseason moves?

I am OK with the offseason
I was hoping we’d trade for Dan Uggla after hearing all those rumors but it never happened
if Huff can play more like his 2008 version than his 2009 version then he’s a big improvement and DeRosa is already an improvement
I still think we should at least offer Byrnes a Minor League Deal I’m sure he’d accept
hopefully the playoff drought ends this year we deserve to see a winning team again

I was thinking the Uggla deal would happen, but not re-signing Penny is probably what killed it. Giants probably feel like they can’t afford to trade J-Sanchez. That would just leave us with Lincecum, Cain, Zito and searching for two other guys to fill the end of the rotation. I’m looking forward to seeing Bumgarner show Giants fans what he’s all about!

not fully happy here.
we are done with batting BUT NOT WITH PITCHING. Comn now…we lost the unit, valdez and the now dback howry. We need calero or chan ho park. Since we are not getting a starter and I’m ok with bumgarner or joe martinez for the fifth spoth. We don’t have bullpen depth. Again, I will say we need kalero or chan ho. A lot ofone year contracts. Expect a full team change next year if this doesn’t succeed. We got plenty of players getting out of contract after this season.
Howry and Valdez are not big losses we have Joaquin who can replace Valdez and Howry we sited a whole bunch of guys to minor league deals one of them had to be at least average ( Casilla, Cameron, Bautista)
we don’t need to sign anyone else for the bullpen
it’s true, but we can’t rely on just rockies. I would like to see rockies move up and succeed but for low cash I think chan ho park would have been a great deal. Ugla would have been a great trade but not losing sanchez for it. Well see this season go and again, with a lot of one year contracts you might see a lot of trades happen if our lineup doesn’t work.
Our bullpen isnt what you should be worrying about Armando…Our Defense and our lineup are the main concerns….adding derosa and huff isnt exactly making our defense better or making our team more athletic.
I would of rather seen the Giants go after chone figgins than Dan uggla. I really dont like the idea of Rowand hitting leadoff…but if he can have the success he did last year, ill be happy.
WE dont need Calero or Chan ho park…
we can forget about Byrnes now he signed with the Mariners
