The 2012 regular season has officially come to an end, for most teams. Not for your San Francisco Giants, as they have a date with the Reds on Saturday to start their playoff run.
It’s now official, Buster Posey has won the 2012 National League Batting Title! Posey finished the season with a .336 average, which was 9 points higher than runner-up Andrew McCutchen (.327).
You might remember a guy that played for the Giants this year, Melky Cabrera? He finished with a .346 average, but was withdrawn from the batting title race by the Players Union and MLB, because of his PED suspension (50 games).
Infielder Marco Scutaro finished the regular season with a 20-game hitting streak. This streak will continue in Scutaro’s first regular season game in 2013. Scutaro finishes the season with a .306 average, 7 homers and 74 RBI between Colorado and San Francisco.
Since this is a Giants site, I’m sure you want to know how Scutaro hit once he put on the Orange and Black (traded for infielder Charlie Culberson). In 61 games, Scutaro hit .362 with 3 homers and 44 RBI. I’m sure the Giants will do whatever they need to do so Scutaro comes back in 2013.
Don’t forget to go to the SF Giants Rumors Facebook page to share your thoughts on Posey winning the NL Batting Title, and Scutaro’s 20-game hitting streak.
