SF Giants Rumors: Sandoval Slump, Side Notes

Last night was another big win for the San Francisco Giants. The win combined with the Dodgers loss, made it a very sweet night for Giants fans. The lead in the NL West is now extended to 6 games.

Pablo Sandoval still continues to struggle at the plate and defensively. In his last 6 games, Sandoval is hitting .087 (2-for-23) with 0 RBI and 2 runs scored. With the Giants 9 runs scored last night, Sandoval had no contribution with getting any runs across, as he was 0-for-4. This is very concerning coming from your 3rd hitter in the lineup. If he doesn’t break out of this slump by the end of this road trip. Look for manager Bruce Bochy to take away some playing time, moving him down in the lineup as well.

Side Notes

Madison Bumgarner took matters into his own hands at the plate and belted a long 3-run homer to tie the game at 4-4 in the top of the 4th inning.

The magic number for the G-Men to win the NL West is 15. That’s a combination of Giants wins and Dodgers losses.

Relief pitcher Clay Hensley has been activated from the DL. He gives the Giants another arm, we know how Bochy likes to use his pen for matchups this time of year. He’s already used 11 pitchers in a game since the rosters expanded on September 1st.

Pitcher Eric Hacker cleared waivers, but rejected an outright assignment to Fresno to pursue options in Asia. Pitcher Steve Edlefsen also cleared waivers but has elected to accept his Fresno assignment.

GUYS – HE’S IN A SLUMP AND FAT AGAIN BUT WE WON’T WIN ANYTHING MORE THAN A DIVISION W/O HIS BAT, SO LET’S HOPE IT GETS GOING AGAIN; AS LONG AS WE’RE WINNING NOW THE G BRASS CAN AFFORD TO LET HIM HIT IS WAY OUT OF IT, HOPEFULLY….

The biggest issue with the Panda still is his weight….even Chris {I think} has to admit it. When Panda is down in his weight he is a sight to be hold…he goes after any pitch thrown him and drives it. I totally love our Giants and only wish them the best but there comes a time when some players have to bite the bullet….good grief “don’t eat it” Without the Panda driving the ball I don’t see much hope…Go Giants

Panda needs to get in better shape so his bat and defense will improve. I like the Panda when he is on his game however I feel the Giants brass are getting very impatient with him and they may try to trade him next year.
