Today is the first day of cuts in Spring Training for the San Francisco Giants. They’ve sent pitchers Fabio Castillo, Edward Concepcion, Justin Fitzgerald, Jose Valdez, Josh Osich, infielder Joe Panik and catcher Andrew Susac to Minor League Camp, says Giants Beat Writer Chris Haft (via Twitter).
None of this news should be a surprise to anyone. The team is pretty much set, except for a bullpen arm or two and bench roles. However, I sure would have loved to see Panik, Susac and Villalona get more playing time for the G-men this spring.
After watching the highlights, I wouldn’t blame Romo for the blown save. An average outfielder playing left field would have made the catch that cost Team Mexico two-runs and a loss. I hate to point fingers, but I can’t let Romo take the blame for this one.
Catcher Hector Sanchez has been battling the injury bug this spring. He’s had a shoulder issue already, and his right calf tighten up Tuesday during the game. He had to take a few days off to rest it, but he’s now ready for game action.
