The Rockies are only 3 games behind the Giants in the NL West, and seem to beating up everyone’s pitching staff that they face. They currently rank 1st in runs (249), batting average (.299), on base percentage (.346) and slugging percentage (.494). Which means the Giants pitchers need to come ready to pitch and try not to miss their locations or these Rockies will be feasting all over it.
On the flip side, the Rockies pitching aren’t on the same level as their hitting. They’re currently ranked 22nd in ERA (4.09), 18th in quality starts (22), 17th in WHIP (1.33), and 18th in batting average against (.254). This means the Giants big bats should be capable of putting up some good numbers in this 3-game set.
Thus far the Giants and Rockies have faced each other 6 times in this young season. The first 3 games were in San Francisco, and the 2nd 3-game set was in Colorado. Both teams handled business at home against each other by winning 2-out-of-three on their home field. Which means it’s an even 3-3 record between the two teams.
