SF Giants Rumors – Still A Chance For Bay or Holliday!

Jon Heyman of SI. com chimes in on big teams that still have moves to make. Heyman says no team could use a big hitting star more than the Giants. Even though the organization is doing well financially, they don’t appear t be aiming as high as they could. Baseball executives keep wondering whether they’ll jump in on one of the big stars, but for now it appears they are more seriously looking at Nick Johnson, Dan Uggla, Jermaine Dye, Scott Podsednik, Mark DeRosa, Adrian Beltre and others.

King of Cali thoughts: The Giants front office doesn’t feel the pressure of needing to go out and sign a big player. They have a nice stadium and loyal Giants fans that are just happy to get out to the park and see their team. Fan’s out here don’t demand a World Series. In New York the Yankees want a World Series every year or it’s a bad year. Here the Giants are just happy with competing in September and let it turn into a crap shoot if they make the playoffs. If they are doing well financially. Then it’s time to bump that payroll a little bit and get a Super-Star-Slugger!

  1. man oh man what Holliday or Bay could do for the offense.

I read somewhere that the Giants have are the #9 team in baseball in terms of revenue. Why do we have the #14 Payroll then? Maybe the millionaire owners should make a few less million and invest in a team that can compete into October. They’ll make the money back on merchandising and playoff tickets

  2. It seems that Bay is not going to come here based on what’s been said.

The problem for big sluggers coming out here is the park. They won’t be able to hit their incentives and bad numbers could set them up for a worse contract coming out of it.

So how do you fix that? You overpay. And the Giants won’t overpay now especially after the Barry Zito contract.

It would seem to be an easy thing to do since you’d think people would want to play with Lincecum and Cain pitching. Take away that Zito contract and I think the Giants would overpay some of these hitters.

  3. I think it is safe to say neither Bay or Holliday is coming to SF due to both not wanting to play here and the management not willing to do the big contracts.I do however feel that if we sign 2 of the above list minus Podsednik we can have an very good oppourtunity to win the west.

  4. I think Holliday would want to play in SF because I read an interview he did when he was a Rockie and he said hid favorite place to play on the road is San Francisco because he is very comfortable there and he always seems to hit well there

the reason we won’t get Holliday is probably money
