While you were probably partying during your Labor Day Weekend, the San Francisco Giants took two out of three games from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Yesterday’s starting pitcher Yusmeiro Petit was in beast mode as he struck out a career high 10 in six plus innings. He’s now 2-0 since being called up by the Giants, and has a 3.12 ERA. I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of him as the Giants check inventory to see what they have for the future.

John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle (via Twitter) says Petit will stay in the rotation, “we want to keep looking at him,” says manager Bruce Bochy.
Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com reports (via Twitter) that Matt Cain threw 90 pitches in the bullpen and should be ready for Saturday. Chad Gaudin will start throwing tomorrow, and there will be a simulated game for reliever Jeremy Affeldt tomorrow.
