- Comments Off on SF Giants Rumors: Arbitration Players, Brian Wilson, Congratulations 49ers
Let’s get everyone all caught up to speed with the San Francisco Giants and their arbitration eligible players. On Friday, the Giants hammered out deals with four of their six arbitration eligible players.
The following four players have agreed to terms and avoid arbitration are catcher Buster Posey ($8 million), outfielder Hunter Pence ($13.8 million), reliever Jose Mijares ($1.8 million), and outfielder Gregor Blanco ($1.35 million).
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports (via Twitter) that Romo filed for $4.5 million, and the Giants were at $2.675 million. I haven’t heard any figures for Arias at this time.
“I’m going to be brutally honest as I always am, I don’t [think Wilson will return],” says GM Brian Sabean.
Sabean did say that the Giants may be in a position to offer Wilson a low base salary with incentives, but he thinks Wilson would rather do that deal with another team, than return to the Giants.
The Bill James Handbook projects Wilson to pitch in 44 games with a 3-2 record, 3.48 ERA, and 37 saves. It’s tough to say how they came up with those projections since Wilson pretty much missed all of the 2012 season, and and has been rehabbing after his second Tommy John surgery.
For you Fantasy Baseball junkies, I wouldn’t rush to draft Wilson just yet. Maybe wait till later in Spring Training to see who he signs with and how he’s looking on the mound. I’m personally still holding out hope for a Wilson return to the Giants. I’m not ready to see his act in any other uniform!
Congratulations to the San Francisco 49ers on winning the NFC Championship! Next stop is the Super Bowl. Let’s hope San Francisco can have two champions this season!
