SF Giants Rumors: Ex Giant Released To Play In Japan

Ex-Giant John Bowker has been released (Press Release) by the Phillies, so he could pursue an opportunity to play in Japan.

Bowker has always put fear in minor league pitchers, and has put up some great numbers in the minors. However, he just hasn’t been able to seize his major league opportunities. In 240 major league games, Bowker has hit .232 with 17 homers and 73 RBIs.

The San Francisco Giants traded Bowker and Joe Martinez to the Pirates for relief pitcher Javier Lopez on July 31, 2010.

Do you think Bowker will eventually return to the MLB and become the hitter everyone expected coming out of the minors?
