SF Giants Rumors: Freddy Sanchez Drawing Interest

Freddy-Sanchez-injuredJerry Crasnick of ESPN.com says (via Twitter) there’s some teams that are checking out Freddy Sanchez‘s medical records. Sanchez was only with the San Francisco Giants for a few seasons, but I’m a huge Freddy fan. Which means, it would be hard for me to see him in another uniform. I actually thought he would probably just retire after missing all of the 2012 season.
Freddy has been with the Giants since July 29, 2009. That’s when the Giants pulled the trigger by trading away pitching prospect Tim Alderson to the pirates for Sanchez.

Sanchez only played one full season with the Giants and that was the year they first brought the World Series Championship to San Francisco (2010)! Sanchez hit .292 with 7 homers, 47 RBI, and 55 runs scored. The guy was clutch with the bat, and was the perfect guy to have at the plate for a hit-and-run.

On June 10, 2011, Sanchez tried to make a diving play and dislocated his shoulder against the Reds at AT&T Park. He ended up having to have season-ending surgery. Sanchez was trying to make a comeback and was playing a rehab game when he injured his back. The injury required him to have back surgery to remove a portion of a disc in his lower back.

The Giants have since moved on by trading for and locking up infielder Marco Scutaro for three years. Which means, there is no need for the Giants to bring Sanchez back.

Sanchez played 196 games, hit .290, with 11 homers, 78 RBI and 87 runs scored during his three year tenure in San Francisco.

SF Giants Rumors wishes you the best of luck and hope’s you can make a comeback. Giants fans are forever grateful for your contributions in bringing the first Word Series Championship to San Francisco!
