SF Giants Rumors: Giants Scouting Pitchers, Cain Is Named NL Starting Pitcher

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says scouts of six contending teams were watching the Brewers starting pitcher Zack Greinke face the Astros (Saturday), but they didn’t get to see much since Greinke was ejected two batters into the game.
The six teams that were listed as having a scout present was the Orioles, Rangers, Braves, Diamondbacks, Blue Jays and the San Francisco Giants.

Heyman also says the scouts could have been there to watch the Astros starter Wandy Rodriguez as well.

Cain Is Named NL Starting Pitcher

Matt Cain has been named the NL’s starting pitcher for the 2012 All Star Game. When the NL team takes the field. The Giants will have four players (Melky Cabrera, Buster Posey, and Pablo Sandoval) taking the field as part of the starting lineup.

    Cain and Cabrera have earned the right to start in the All Star Game this year. While Posey and Sandoval are all stars, there are other players at their respective positions that should be starting ahead of them.
