SF Giants Rumors: Mota Likely Not Returning, Wilson Interest, Pass On Grilli

All indications are that reliever Guillermo Mota will not be pursued by the San Francisco Giants to return to their bullpen, reports Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com.
Fan favorite (or at least was) Brian Wilson has been told by surgeon James Andrews that he will be cleared for Spring Training and ready by Opening Day, says Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports (via Twitter). Let’s just hope he doesn’t try to rush himself back and ends up right back on the DL.

There is a good hand full of teams that are interested in Wilson, but no figures have really been thrown out as of yet. Giants VP Bobby Evans says he hasn’t talked to Wilson’s representatives at the Winter Meetings, but there is an understanding to stay in touch, says Andrew Baggarly (via Twitter).

I still would like to see Wilson back in a Giants uniform. Let’s hope Wilson has a change of heart, and takes the Giants up on their offer to return to Orange & Black.

The Giants were showing interest in pitcher Jason Grilli, but Ken Rosenthal says (via Twitter) the Giants are now out for Grilli’s services.

I wouldn’t gauge the “temperature” of this (or any other) situation daily by what is and isn’t said in the media. So many things are said (and not said) that don’t come from the actual source (Wilson and/or his agent), so rumors and conjecture fly for the sake of a story. Who knows if what he said about playing for LA is true (probably not, but it makes for a great story), and turns out half of SF hate him for something he never did. Who wants that? Who can confirm he said it, but Wilson? Media is unreliable until the ink is dry on the contract. Wilson is up for grabs, and may the best team (SF) win.
