We’ve learned that the Seattle Mariners are searching for a new manager, and San Francisco Giants coach Ron Wotus is one of many men on their long list of candidates. Wotus has served as a bench coach with the Giants since 1999. Prior to that he was a manager in the Giants organization from 1991-1997. He was also named Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year in 1997. I’m sure you’re wondering what happened to 1998? In 1998, Wotus was the Giants 3rd base coach.

Cuban infielder Alexander Guerrero was close to signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers a few weeks back. For whatever reason, the deal didn’t pan out. Now the Giants are among one of the destinations that could land Guerrero’s services. However, Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com says (via Twitter) he hears the Giants are looking harder at Cuban Slugger Jose Abreu than Guerrero.
