SF Giants Rumors: Sergio Romo Issues An Apology Statement

SergioRomo-IllegalShirtYesterday, news broke like a wild fire that San Francisco Giants closer Sergio Romo was cuffed at the Las Vegas airport on New Year’s Day. The news was burning up the Internet, and now Romo has issued a statement to put out the fire.
“I would like to sincerely apologize about the recent events at the Las Vegas airport which brought negative attention to the San Francisco Giants organization and it’s fans,” Romo said in a statement Thursday. “I love and respect the Giants, my teammates and our fans and promise to conduct myself in the future in the San Francisco Giants Way.”

Some fans on SF Giants Rumors Facebook page think Romo should be held to a higher standard since he’s a pro athlete and World Champion. Others believe that the incident is tame, compared to other pro athletes that are getting arrested these days.

Like I said yesterday, things could be much worse. We can’t get all worked up over a little ruckus at the airport. Romo wasn’t arrested and only has to pay a fine for a citation. Get it out of your system Romo, cause Spring Training starts next month!

Apology accepted. The TSA, too, is only human.

  • Anthony R says:

I think this brings out the total frustration all Americans are having with the TSA and its abuses.

I agree with David the people who work there are only human; but for that very reason we are not to subjucate ourselves to the whims of people who clearly are not able to handle that much authority and make unwise decisions during the course of their duties; and who don’t have the temperment to go with their unabated authority.

Also no accountablility to the people who work there is another frustration free people have a problem with.

We need to understand the balance between being secure and free to being under the illusion of child proof safe

I do not know all the details as to why Romo conducted himself in a matter that caused him to be cuffed. However, being a Professional Athlete who is in the public eye, he is held to a higher standard and needs to be a role model to our youth. I trust he learns by his mistake and puts this behind him. Go Giants in 2013.
