SF Giants Rumors: Tanaka, Belt, Abreu and Vogelsong

BrianSabeanAndrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com did a live chat with San Francisco Giants fans on Wednesday (10/30/13). Below are some of the main points of the chat.
Baggarly doesn’t think Japanese pitcher Masahiro Tanaka is a realistic target for the Giants. The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees will be bidding, so the price will likely end up more than what the Giants are willing to spend.
Brandon Belt and the Giants should work out a one-year deal to avoid arbitration, and then will likely take some time during spring training to work on a multi-year deal to buy out a few more arbitration years.
The Giants did offer Cuban Slugger Jose Abreu nearly the same annual salary as the Chicago White Sox, but they didn’t want to offer as many years ($68M/6yrs). Most scouts view Abreu as a DH type player.
Baggarly does think Ryan Vogelsong will return to the Giants after his option is declined. He imagines Vogelsong will be back on a one-year deal for less guaranteed money and incentives.
