I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Pablo Sandoval hit three home runs in yesterday’s big win over the San Diego Padres. He looked like the Panda that hit three home runs in game one of the 2012 World Series. The only difference was that was on the highest stage for all of the baseball world to see, and this time it was on the lowest stage as the San Francisco Giants were playing in a game that was a battle of last place with the Padres.

Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News says (via Twitter) according to ESPN stats info, Sandoval is the first World Series MVP winner to have a three-homer game the season after winning Series MVP.
Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com says (via TwitterBrandon Crawford teased Sandoval that he was within one homer of him. “He said just wait. Then he went and hit three. I didn’t know it was that easy,” says Crawford.
Baggarly also gives us more Sandoval insights (via Twitter links). Sandoval’s 10 career homers at Petco Park are tied with Adam LaRoche and Justin Upton for the most by a visiting player. Sandoval is just the second player to have a three-homer game at Petco. The other player is Ryan Braun on April 30, 2012.
Side Note
Reliever George Kontos sent out a tweet last night saying, “I’ll tell you what, it feels GREAT being back in SF.” Kontos was recalled as one of the eight September call ups for the Giants.
