SF Giants Rumors: Vogelsong Brings It, Scutaro Injured On A Dirty Holliday Slide

The National League Championship Series is all tied up at one game apiece. It’s now a best of five game series, and the next three are in St. Louis.
The San Francisco Giants had a breakout game by scoring 7 runs in last nights ball game. The refreshing thing about last night was Ryan Vogelsong taking his start deep into the game. It reminds us of how our starting staff could pitch when they’re on their game.

Vogelsong tossed 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 2 walks. Jeremy Affeldt and Sergio Romo both came in and took care of the 8th and 9th innings to secure the 7-1 win over the Cardinals.

Infielder Marco Scutaro was taken out by a Matt Holliday slide during a double attempt. It was a dirty play, because Holliday didn’t slide till he was on top of the bag. If he slid into 2nd and his momentum took him into Scutaro, I would have no problem with the take out. However, that wasn’t the case.

Scutaro’s X-rays did come back negative, and he’s on the team flight to St. Louis. However, his status for game three and the rest of the playoffs is unknown at this time.

As you mentioned it was a dirty play since he did not slide until after he was over the bag. The commissh needs to step in and suspend Holliday. This type of play has to be stoppped. If I were our guy I would consider suing for assult and make him pay all the meds.

It wasn’t a slide it was a body block.

    Cheap shot all the way!
