SF Giants Rumors: Welcome Back Andres Torres

The San Francisco Giants are welcoming back a fan favorite! Outfielder Andres Torres has agreed to terms with the Giants for a one-year deal, worth $2 million reports Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com (via Twitter links).
Torres hit .230 for the Mets with 3 homers and 35 RBI in 132 games. The Mets non-tendered Torres earlier this offseason.

It was just a little over a year ago that the Giants traded Torres and Ramon Ramirez for Angel Pagan. Now Torres and Pagan will be patrolling the same outfield.

I’m sure this isn’t the big right-handed bat that fans were expecting to platoon with Gregor Blanco in left field. Torres is a switch hitter and only hit 3 homers in 2012. However, he does bring his speed and would also be a nice late inning defensive replacement. I can already picture Blanco, Pagan and Torres covering the outfield in a close 1-run game in the ninth inning. It’s like having 3 center fielders scouring the outfield at AT&T Park.

Maybe the Giants aren’t done looking for a right-handed platoon bat… Stay tuned Giants fans!
