- Comments Off on SF Giants Rumors: Wilson, WBC, Posey Deal, Lincecum Deal, and Arbitration
A quick followup to yesterday’s news about the New York Mets showing strong interest in Brian Wilson. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle says (via Twitter) the San Francisco Giants are willing to offer Wilson a big league deal, and reports say the Mets aren’t.

Posey, Long-term Deal
In another Schulman tweet, he says the Giants expect at some point this spring to discuss with Posey’s agent a blockbuster long-term deal. However, there is no rush. Posey is under the teams control until after the 2016 season.
Posey put up a MONSTER season in 2012, and capped it off by winning the Batting Title and MVP Award. He’s also won the Rookie of the Year Award, and helped the Giants bring two World Series Championships to San Francisco in a three year span.
In 2012, Posey hit .336 with 24 homers, 103 RBI, and scored 78 runs in 148 games for the Giants.
The Bill James Handbook projects that Posey will have another great season. He’s projected to hit .324 with 24 homers, 98 RBI, and score 79 runs in 148 games.
Lincecum Still In Giants Long-term Plans
Schulman is on fire with all the news he’s breaking. He says (via Twitter) the Giants haven’t given up on Tim Lincecum after his subpar 2012 season. In another tweet, he says the possibility of signing Lincecum long-term played into some budgetary decisions this year on long-term deals for other players.
The Giants and arbitration eligible players will exchange offers, requests Friday. Hunter Pence will be getting some big money, and both sides are negotiating a one-year deal to avoid arbitration. There is no long-term talks at this time, reports Schulman (via Twitter).
