With the 2012 payroll pretty much already maxed out. That’s really good news for Brandon Crawford and his fans. Crawford will be the San Francisco Giants 2012 shortstop, and not have to worry about some over the hill veteran breathing down his neck and taking AB’s away from him.
For those of you that don’t know much about Crawford. You can read this Q&A that he did with SF Giants Rumors, so you can get to know a little more about your 2012 shortstop.

“So I will be working as hard as I can to prove I should be the starter going into this upcoming season,” Crawford shared his insights with me.

It was a a horror flick at SS last season. Good thing they released Miggie, to let him know that he was more trouble than he was worth.

The fact that the subject of the payroll is maxed out is a continous theme, it must mean that the Giants will play with what they now have as far as offense is concerned.
    Medium rate at best.
This means another year of exhaustion for the pitchers and another year of torture for the fans.

Crawford will improve the defense, obviously. In this way, I’m glad Cabrera struggled, or he might have been 2011s whipping boy. Also, it seems forgotten a little that Buster is coming back, Belt and Pill will improve, Freddy is coming back and Huff will benefit from having Posey back. I’m with the front office. Done making moves? Just fine with me. Look, we are built around pitching and with the pitching I saw in the playoffs, I have no doubt they would have repeated with Buster and Freddy healthy.

  • Kit says:

We’ll be a better team for this. Our fielding up the middle improves a lot and with Buster, Freddy, Cabrera and Pagan, our hitting will be much better. We can afford a weak hitting excellent fielding shortstop. Last year we had weak hitting, poor fielding shortstops. I like the way the team is shaping up. Younger, more agile, faster.

  • Hector Cuebas says:

Gentlemen, to many ifs. If Buster, if Freddie, if Huff, if Pagan, etc., etc. etc.
There is no protection for the pitchers and soon they will be long gone.
