SF Giants Rumors: G-Men Need Their Swag, Rowand & Tejada Reactions

Since Aaron Rowand and Miguel Tejada have been DFA. The Giants are showing they have a pulse by defeating the Cubs just hours after the clubhouse shakeup.

This weekend the first place Diamondbacks come to town, and it’s a make or break series for the G-Men. Every game from here on out is a playoff game.

Earlier in the year the Giants still had that swag about them. They knew if they can get on the scoreboard or keep the game close, they would find a way to win it at the end.

Once August came around something took that swag away. I don’t know if it was the dog days of summer? Let’s just hope September brings the magic back to this group of guys.

SF Giants Rumors: Rowand And Tejada DFA, Stats In A Giants Uniform

The San Francisco Giants have decided to shakeup the clubhouse today. Miguel Tejada and Aaron Rowand have been Designated For Assignment (DFA). Tejada was brought in on a 1-year deal ($6.5M). Rowand on the other hand was brought in on a 5-year deal, and still had another year left on his contract. The Giants are eating up $12 million that Rowand is owed for next year.

Stats In Giants Uniform

Tejada (1-year) – 91 G, .239 AVG, 4 HR, 26 RBI, 28 R

Rowand (4-years) – 509 G, .253 AVG, 43 HR, 189 RBI, 194 R

SF Giants Rumors: If You’re Injured And You Know It, Clap Your Hands!!

John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle says the Giants put Sergio Romo on DL with inflammation to the right elbow. Dan Runzler has been recalled to take Romo’s place on the roster. Romo’s active 13 scoreless innings pitched streak will now have to be put on hold.

The news everyone has been waiting to hear is finally hear… Carlos Beltran is headed to the DL. Beltran is only hitting .244 in a Giants uniform, but let’s hope he can get healthy ASAP. There is still time for him to come back and be the impact player they traded for down the stretch.

Miguel Tejada will skip his rehab starts, and has been activated since Beltran is headed to the DL.

Andrew Baggarly tweets that Nate Schierholtz may have broken his right foot on a foul ball in the 8th inning yesterday, and is going for x-rays. Please stay tuned…. I’m feeling hurt just writing about all these injuries!

In another Baggarly tweet he says Jeff Keppinger is getting an MRI on his wrist. Keppinger jammed it in a collision with Freeman last night.

Yet, in another tweet from Baggarly. He says Aaron Rowand is out with a strained intercostal (side) muscle. The only available bench players in today’s game is Mark DeRosa and the back up catcher.

SF Giants Rumors: Ross Back To Florida, Tejada Getting Close, Side Notes

Cody Ross is making his first visit back to Florida since he was traded to the Giants by the Marlins. He didn’t leave on bad terms, but I doubt their will be a welcome back party. Ross has been struggling this year (.246, 8 HR, 35 RBI), but the acquisition was worth it. The guy turned out to be the MVP of the NLCS, and helped the Giants to win the 2010 World Series!

Tejada Update Miguel Tejada is taking BP and groundballs, but isn’t 100% yet. He has traveled with the team to Florida. Tejada is hitting .242 with 4 homers and 26 RBI for the season.

Side Notes

The Giants are averaging 3.45 runs per game. Last year they averaged 4.30 per game. They have the lowest run total (407) among all National League teams. Do you think that’s a big reason as to why were in a losing streak?!?!? ~

Quick Thoughts Before The Giants Sweep The Dodgers Out Of San Francisco

The San Francisco Giants are playing some pretty good ball right now. They have won eight out of their last ten games, and are on the verge of sweeping the hated Dodgers.

Miguel Tejada‘s status was changed yesterday from day-to-day, to the 15-Day DL. With Tejada headed to the DL. That gave Brandon Belt the opportunity to re-join the Giants, and he sure had a welcome back party last night! Belt was 2-for-4 with a HR and two-run double.

It’s been a crazy year thus far for the G-Men, but one thing this team doesn’t do is give up! Brian Sabean isn’t done making moves, so let’s see what deals he can hammer out in the next 11 days…

The Houston Astros Sr. Director of Social Media Alyson Footer says (via twitter) the San Francisco Giants have traded RHP’s Henry Sosa and Jason Stoffel to the Astros for INF Jeff Keppinger. Let the trading season begin for the Giants!

Beltran Rumors

Now back to the Carlos Beltran rumors. Word on the street is the Mets are willing to eat up Beltran’s contract to get top prospects in return. That’s news that the Giants front office is hoping isn’t really true. The G-Men would like to take on the added payroll of the remaining of Beltran’s contract, rather than part with a Zack Wheeler or Brandon Belt.

Miguel Tejada left the game in the third inning of last nights game with an abdominal strain. Tejada is listed as day-to-day, and will not be headed to the DL.

Jonathan Sanchez is hoping for better results the next time he takes the mound. Sanchez is scheduled to have his next rehab start for the Fresno Grizzlies on July 19.

SF Giants Rumors, Sandoval In and Tejada Out?

With Pablo Sandoval scheduled to rejoin the team on Tuesday. There is a lot of speculation that Miguel Tejada could be on his way out. The emergence of Brandon Crawford may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back.

SF Giants Rumors – DeRosa’s Health and Who’s Playing 3rd Base?

The hot topic for the San Francisco Giants is the health of Mark DeRosa and who’s now going to be playing 3rd base?

I like DeRosa and wish he would have been healthy as a Giant. That’s just not how the cards were dealt in this situation. The Giants re-called up Emmanuel Burriss to take DeRosa’s spot on the roster. It’s not clear how long DeRosa will be out, but fans shouldn’t expect him back any time soon.

RBI – 13

R – 12

OBP – .264

This was not what the Giants expected when they signed DeRosa (2-years, $12 million).

Pablo Sandoval had started playing catch, but he’s still not expected back any time soon. The Giants will have to use Miguel Tejada at 3rd the majority of the time till Sandoval is back.

Aubrey Huff has played 3rd in his career, and is open to the idea of playing some 3rd base. He says he just needs about a week of practice there to get his throws down. The Giants haven’t said if they are on board with this idea, but at least it’s an option.

Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News says Jose Reyes would be a huge upgrade over Miguel Tejada‘s .195 batting average. Inman also says, the Giants are conservative under owner Bill Neukom‘s watch, and that deal would be too bold.

The San Francisco Giants gave the Colorado Rockies a reality check this weekend by letting them know they’re still the World Series Champs! Giants fans couldn’t have asked for anything more this weekend, as the Giants swept the Rockies.

Injury Update

Barry Zito has been playing catch on flat ground, and it still might be a couple weeks until he’s ready to come off the DL. If Ryan Vogelsong forces the issue with strong outings. Zito may find himself in the bullpen when he returns.

Mark DeRosa is scheduled to come off of the DL tomorrow (Tuesday). DeRosa may get his shot to take over at 3rd for the struggling Miguel Tejada. I’m sure Bochy is going to switch these guys out until one of them catches fire. Then that’s who’s going to be out there on a more regular basis.
