The mystery player in center field has finally been revealed. The San Francisco Giants have announced that they’ve signed outfielder Austin Jackson to a 2-year, 6 million deal. Jackson played 85 games in 2017 for the Cleveland Indians, and hit .318 for the season. The 30 year-old turns 31 on February 1st.
“We are excited to have Austin join the Giants”, said Senior Vice President and General Manager Bobby Evans. “He is a talented and versatile player who will strengthen our roster and provide additional depth at all three outfield positions.”
Jackson also hit .352 against left-handed pitching in 2017. That’s going to be huge since we know the Los Angeles Dodgers have a couple of good lefties in their starting rotation.
With the big addition of Evan Longoria to play the hot corner, and Andrew McCutchen to play right field… The Giants definitely seem like they’re ready to make another run at the NL West title or a Wild Card spot in 2018!
